Your UIRA sponsors Special Interest Groups that meet periodically to further shared interests. If you would like to join an active group or have an idea for a new group, contact us at ui-ra@uiowa.edu.
Explorers
The Explorers is a group of UIRA members interested in walking and hiking together. Walks are held on the third Wednesday of each month at locations throughout the Iowa City/Coralville area. In the past, the group has also explored areas near Kalona, Amana, and Solon. Details for each walk will be emailed to the group a day or two before the event. No RSVP is required.
Fall 2026 walks:
October 21, 2 p.m., Cangleska Wakan
November 18, 2 p.m., Scott Park
December 16, 2 p.m., Terry Trueblood Recreation Area
The group will begin walking about 5 minutes after the scheduled time.
Check The Gray Hawk email newsletter for additional walks that may be scheduled.
If you’d like to join the Explorers or have questions, send a message to either Lesanne (lesanne-fliehler@uiowa.edu) or Marianne (marianne.mason@msn.com).
