Professor Mary Charlton holds a BS in nursing and MS and PhD degrees in epidemiology, all from the University of Iowa. She joined the faculty in the College of Public Health in 2013 and became the director of the Iowa Cancer Registry in 2020. She has focused particular attention on cancer risk and treatment in rural areas and on racial/ethnic disparities in cancer outcomes.
